Never been to Tees Barrage before?

We are located just off the A66, between Stockton and Middlesbrough on the banks of the River Tees. Surrounded by natural beauty, Tees Barrage is home to the internationally renowned white water course, reopened in 2012 by Her Majesty The Queen. The course is made up of a long course and a short course which boasts one of the largest drops in the country. The course is popular with paddlers and white water rafters and hosts competitions throughout the year.

In 2016, Tees Barrage became home to Air Trail, an enormous outdoor climbing structure standing 4 storeys high. In its first year Air Trail has seen over 10,000 customers take on the varying challenges and has been deemed a huge success.

Tees Barrage is also extremely popular with walkers and cyclists. There are many paths which cut through the water course which give passers by a close up to the action of the paddlers and rafters, without getting too wet! Paths lead off towards Newport Bridge and the coast and inland past Infinity Bridge and down river towards Yarm. There is also a Parkrun every Saturday morning which grows with popularity every week.

Parking is free, and there is a very quaint cafe situated on the top floor of the main watersports building with great views of the flat water lake and Air Trail. A perfect spot to rest those legs with a brew!
