The team at Tees Barrage are absolutely thrilled to have been crowned runner up in the North East England Tourism Awards 2023 – Small Visitor Attraction of the Year category. The ceremony was held at Newcastle’s Civic Centre in March, which also marked the 20th birthday of the awards.
The North East Tourism awards play a key role in celebrating and showcasing the range of quality tourism businesses that visitors to the North East experience. They are the culmination of a week-long focus on the tourism sector as part of English Tourism Week, a national initiative which aims to shines a light on this important sector and its impact on an area’s economy.
Following an undercover visit from 3 independent judges, Tees Barrage International White Water Centre & Air Trail received glowing feedback with the staff venue and customer journey from online through to activity rating highly.
We are wholly committed to continuously improving the venue and services, enhancing customer experience and making the entire site and surrounding area a brilliant place for people to visit and enjoy spending time outdoors!

“From booking the activity, to the day itself and meeting the fabulous staff….what’s not to like? Communication has been first class and there’s a vast amount of activities that can be accessed by all. The overall experience was fantastic, and I look forward to visiting the centre again to do more activities.”
