School Competition Winners Come to Tees Barrage

At the start of June, Tees Barrage International White Water Centre launched a Facebook competition giving schools the chance to win a school trip for one lucky class.

The response was brilliant and we had a large amount of entries from across the area as teachers and parents got involved. The overall winners were Roseberry Primary School from Billingham as they received the most likes on their Facebook Post.

The school trip took place on the not so lucky date of Friday 13th July but everything ran according to plan! Roseberry Primary School decided to choose a team building session, ideal for large groups. 32 pupils lined the banks of the River Tees ready for action and hungry for victory. 4 teams set about building rafts and they then had to cross back and forth across the river in order to rescue their fellow teammates.

After the rescue missions were complete it was time to move on to the next activity. This time 2 teams competed against each other using their boats to race across the river with the aim to fill containers full of radioactive acid (water) and bring them back to the other side so that they could fill a narrow container in order to release the rubber duck. Of course there were a few problems a long the way that the children had to overcome.

Both of these activities were a great way for the pupils to communicate effectively with each other in order to solve problems whilst having lots of fun in the process! Finally the morning ended with a refreshing dip in the River Tees, which all the children loved.

It was a brilliant session with the deserved winners of our Facebook competition down at Tees Barrage and there were lots of smiles and laughs by all throughout the morning.

We welcome all kinds of groups including school and educational groups as well as sports and social clubs. There are a vast amount of activities to choose from too including canoeing, kayaking, stand up paddleboarding, raft building, team building and Air Trail high Ropes Course so Tees Barrage really is the ideal place for group trips.
