On your way around, you get to see rafters battling the rapids, workmates arguing about building a raft, and daredevils scaling the mighty Air Trail. Make a pitstop at The Barrage Cafe for lunch, or bring your own picnic and set up a banquet on a table overlooking the river. If you’re lucky, you might spot some wildlife, and we’re sure you’ll see a plenty of kayakers and canoeists.

Cycling and wildlife-spotting

The nearby nature reserve is a big hit with adults and kids alike. Head here to spot friendly critters in their natural habitat or bring your bikes and take on the winding, riverside cycle route. Tees Barrage is a popular place to go in Teesside for photography too, so make sure to bring your camera.
