White Water Paddling
This activity is for experienced paddlers who are of a 3 star standard and have a competent roll on white water. All equipment must be provided by yourself when using the white water course.
We are excited to bring back white water paddling for you and we can’t wait to welcome you back to Tees Barrage.
We have introduced new procedures at the centre including online booking to make things as safe as possible for staff and customers, so it is essential that everyone takes the time to read the details on this page including the FAQ’s which will answer any of your questions and address some of your concerns. You can also read our latest statement here.
Initially sessions will run every Saturday, however it’s important to highlight that the session time and duration that we will first introduce is only temporary, and we will be assessing things regularly, with a view to making changes when it is right to do so.
Running every Saturday and selected Wednesday’s. Click below to book.
What is the duration of a session and how much does it cost?
Each session is two hours long and costs £15 per person.
How do I and why do I need to book a session?
All bookings must be made through the TBIWWC dedicated booking system (a link will be shared on this page when the booking page is activated).
This will help us to control and assess the flow of visitors on the course in the early stages of reopening. During this time there will be no walk up visitors allowed.
How many spaces will be available in each session?
There will be 30 spaces available in each session to ensure the safety of our paddlers.
There are no available spaces on the day I want to attend a session?
There are limited spaces on each session and these will be sold on a first come first serve basis.
I have been a customer of the centre for a number of years, am I eligible for a discount or priority booking?
Unfortunately we are not able to offer any discounts, due to the limited capacity of the sessions we need to fill as many of the spaces to make the sessions viable. To make it fair to everyone, no one will be able to pre-book sessions prior to the sessions being made available.
Are there any restrictions to what we can do on the white water course?
We ask that there are only two paddlers per eddy at any given time. We also ask all paddlers to follow social distancing rules both on and off the water. This means preparing to give way to upstream paddlers. We also ask that there is no intentional swimming and that slalom gate positions are not to be moved by paddlers, spectators or coaches.
Do I need to complete a medical form?
Yes, please follow the link within your email confirmation and complete the online medical form and risk declaration forms.
Can I book more than one slot?
No, customers can only book one slot per session.
Will Northshore Watersports be open?
Yes, Northshore Watersports on site store will be open. Please follow social distancing and bear with us as we have had to limit the number of customers in the shop/centre. Don’t forget the online store is open too.
Will demo boats be available from NorthShore Watersports?
Unfortunately not, following safety measures all customers must provide all of their own equipment.
What do I need to do on arrival at Tees Barrage?
On arrival please use the queuing system in place and sign in at reception following our contact free process. At this time we will not be issuing bibs but instead will be issuing a disposable band to attach to your buoyancy aid.
Please follow the one way system at the centre and observe social distancing in line with government guidelines.
Will I get a refund if my plans change and I can no longer attend the session?
Unfortunately you will not receive a refund for the session.
Will the sessions be cancelled for any reason and what notice will I get?
There is a possibility that sessions could get cancelled, if the minimum number of people are not pre-booked.
If the session is cancelled you will receive a cancellation e-mail at least 24 hours before along with a full refund.
