Like you, we have been awaiting more detailed information regarding a proposed completion date for the maintenance work on the course and handover back from Canal & River Trust. Unfortunately, we have no involvement with the physical works or completion timeline, however, there is now water in the course, and whilst there is still work going on in the background, this is great news that a reopening date is seemingly getting closer.
As soon as we receive further information we will update you all and will publish the summer programme for the course.
Thanks for your patience and fingers crossed it won’t be long before we’re all back on the water.
On Monday 27th May we launched a win a school trip competition on our facebook page. We reached out to schools across the North East and we had a great response with a vast amount of entries with both parents and teachers getting involved in voting for their schools.
The overall winner announced today (7th June) was Grange Park Primary School Year 6 from Sunderland who received the most votes on their entry. They won a free end of year adventure here at Tees Barrage and can choose from any activity on the flat water lake including canoeing, kayaking, stand up paddleboarding, raft building and bellboating. We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate their hard work and achievements from across the year.
If you are a teacher why not treat your class to a school trip adventure like no other! Parents – why not suggest this to your child’s teacher. The kids always love it here down at The Barrage. For more information about our school and education trips click here or download our education brochure here.
Congratulations again to Grange Park Primary School and thanks again to everyone for taking part in our competition. Stay tuned for more in the future!
